The Senecio Peregrinus is a special houseplant. The plant is known with multiple nicknames. In Japan it is called ‘dolphin chain’ and in other countries it is also called ‘dolphin plant’. As the plant grows, the leaves change and look like dolphins. The plant is a cross between two different species of plants of the same family, namely Senecio articulatus and Senecio rowleyanus. The plant needs clear, but filtered light and a minimum temperature of 15 degrees.
The Senecio genus is one of the largest flowering plant families. This genus includes about 1200 different varieties. The Eden Collection includes several of these. The Senecio family is a succulent family and thus these plants are very hardy and need little care.
