The botanical name for this plant consists of two Greek words, namely ‘chloros’ (green) and ‘phuton’ (plant), literally meaning green plant. It is therefore rather notable that the best known Chlorophytum is not totally green, but is a colourful variant that is green in the middle but cream-white on the inside. In the Eden Collection there are called ‘Zebra grass’ for this reason. The Chlorophytum family originates from the African continent. It is a hardy plant because this plant has tubers in the soil that store food. This ensures that this plant is easy to care for.
